On the evening of September 7, 2009 World Snooker Shanghai Roewe Masters officially opened in Shanghai Stadium. Leaders from the General Administration of Sport of China, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Sports, and the People’s Government of Xuhui District, Shanghai, together with representatives of the Masters sponsor SAIC Roewe, kicked off this Masters event, marking the brilliant 2009 World Snooker Shanghai Rong Wei Masters officially started the peak showdown.
