Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of anastrozole combined with radiotherapy in the treatment of elderly patients with early-stage breast cancer and its impact on the quality of life. Methods The clinical data of 98 elderly women with breast-conserving surgery after breast-conserving surgery were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into observation group (n = 45) and control group (n = 53) according to different treatment methods. The observation group was given anastrozole combined with radiotherapy, while the control group was given conventional anastrozole endocrine therapy. Five-year cumulative survival rate, recurrence rate and quality of life were observed in two groups of patients. Results The 5-year cumulative survival rate was 80.0% in the observation group and 64.2% in the control group, with a significant difference (P <0.05). The 5-year recurrence rate in the observation group was 24.4% (11/45) Lower than 45.3% (24/53) in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The quality of life of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group 3 months after treatment (P <0.01), but there was no significant difference in quality of life between the two groups at 6 and 12 months after treatment (P> 0.05). Conclusion Anastrozole combined with radiotherapy for early-stage breast cancer in elderly patients can improve the survival rate and reduce the recurrence rate.
