“Today and the Monogatari Set” is Japan’s oldest extant literary collection, which plays a decisive role in the history of Japanese literature and has a profound impact on later generations of literature. Many of the articles in The Analects of Lexicon have been translated from the Chinese classical anthology, “Law Courts,” and this point has been fully proved by one of Japan’s leading masters of ancient Chinese studies, Nihon University’s professor and literary doctor Kazuo Haga. The comparative study of “The Analects of the Times” and the original “Fa Yuan Chu Lin” is of great significance for understanding the true situation of the Japanese people drawing lessons from and introducing Chinese culture during the Heian period and the cultural exchanges between China and Japan during the peaceful period. This article will start with the last half of the sixth volume of the Sixth Book of The Story of the Past and the Present, and carry out a comparative study of “The Present and the Present Story Set” and its original “Fa Yuan Chu Lin”.
