20世纪80年代末期重新起步的中国劳动社会学的学科发展基本借鉴欧美劳动社会学的基本理论和框架体系。作为分支社会学,劳动社会学被认为开始于20世纪50年代,但对劳动问题的社会学研究则有与社会学学科发展同样的历史,并有更开阔的视野。回顾早期劳动问题研究的社会理论对劳动社会学学科发展的影响,揭示劳动社会学作为分支学科在西方国家的发展历程和面临的问题,分析随工业化进程不断变迁的研究对象和方式以及理论的发展,研究发现:同样处于全球化和后工业化转型的中国,对劳动社会学的研究应该具有更加广阔的视角,而非限于劳动本身,在借鉴西方社会学研究的基础上,应更加注重中国社会自身的特点,建立既能与西方对话、又具有中国特色的劳动社会学。
