Objective To investigate the effects of enhanced trunk muscle training on the balance and walking ability of stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods 90 patients with hemiplegia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 45 cases each. The patients in both groups were treated by conventional rehabilitation methods. The patients in the treatment group were given intensive trunk muscle training at the same time. Torso control ability (TCT), balance function and walking ability of two groups were evaluated before and after treatment respectively. Results After treatment, the trunk control ability, balance function and walking ability score of the two groups were significantly improved (P <0.01), and the improvement of each index in the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group (P <0.05 ); Further analysis also found that patients with trunk control ability and balance function and walking ability were positively correlated. Conclusion Enhanced trunk muscle training has a positive effect on balance and walking function in patients with hemiplegia.
