How did you stimulate your child’s desire to read in an age when children lacked reading hobbies? According to a California survey of sixth graders in 1980, 70% of children had difficulty reading. While 70% of children also said that they watch television for up to four hours a day or more. How to help children feel the interest, happiness and magic that reading brings to them? With this question, I visited the children cartoonist Charles Schultz, the children’s literature writer and illustrator Maurice Sundak, and youth. Literary writer Judy Bloom and Jim Cherries, an authoritative person who specializes in urging children to read. Charles Schulz, the creator of the comic book Peanuts, believes that as long as the children are willing to read, it is not important to talk about what books to write. Schultz likes to read comic books when he was a child. He particularly likes to read “Buck Rogers” and “ Popeye”. But teachers did not like the children to read such books at that time.
