Pearl Buck’s writing of China’s image and humanity has been neglected by the Chinese left-wing writer and American friend Snow. However, we have no right to ask her to be a revolutionary classor and have no right to ask her not to insist on being Christian Humanist. Her novels, “Mother”, “Concubine” and especially “The Earth,” have painstakingly portrayed the social life in China’s upper and lower strata and have strong sympathy for the poor. Her Chinese story implies a moral tradition of simple and industrious American tradition, which not only made her Western readers feel China’s “humanity,” but also changed the negative image of China from the West in the nineteenth century. Her While observing the contradictions and conflicts between Chinese and western cultures from the perspective of the comparison of Chinese and Western cultures, the “East Wind and West Wind” expresses the good wishes of combining the Chinese and Western cultures with boundless vitality.
