罗隐是晚唐著名诗人。其诗题材广泛，主要分五类：干谒诗、下第诗、咏物诗、咏史诗及其他。其诗风格独特，具有讽刺性、哲理化倾向、含蓄、通俗等特点。其创作对宋诗有一定的影响。
