Enerfex, of Williston, Vermont, USA, has submitted the first nitrogen removal membrane unit (NRMU) for use in pretreatment of natural gas for use in fuel cell power generation systems. Eighteen membrane modules per NRMU, approximately 24.1 bm of 250 [mu] m hollow fiber plated with 0.5 [mu] m plasma-plated semi-permeable gas barrier layer. This membrane has a greater selectivity of permeation to hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide than to nitrogen and the more advanced the higher the selectivity of the membrane. The permeate flow rate is 80 times that of the standard air separation membrane. product
