Many species of Plasmodium can not be identified based solely on the red stage morphology. rRNAs, and in particular SSUrRNAs, are considered to be ideal targets for the identification of Plasmodium. The molecule consists of a conserved region and a variable region chimeric. Using the conserved region common to Plasmodium as a primer, the sequence of various plasmodium species can be amplified. The resulting species can be identified by hybridization or sequence analysis with known oligonucleotide probes. There is a competitive mechanism when amplifying parasite RNA, and the resulting product is parallel to the ratio of target amount in the original sample; this reverse
