Background Micro-column technology has been used for serological investigations, but due to its high sensitivity, false positives are apparent, such as in hypergammaglobulinemia. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the application of microtechnology in patients with multiple myeloma. Methods A total of 80 patients with multiple myeloma were examined by pre-transfusion method using the microcolumn method and the traditional tube method. Results All sera were negative in the micro column indirect antiglobulin and enzyme assays, and 58% of the samples in the enzyme tube assay were positive.
