我1931年生于河北省秦皇岛市山海关区。1949年至1953年就读于中央美术学院绘画系,在美院学习期间受教于艾中信、董希文、戴泽等教授,得到艺术上的启蒙,并在专业上打下较好的基础。由于当时处于新中国成立初期,根据社会的需要,强调培养普及美术的工作者,因此,学习课程除以素描为主课外,年画、连环画、宣传画都有所涉及。记得当时正处于抗美援朝时期,我与同班同学王乃壮合作,创作了一幅《反对美帝 I was born in 1931 in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province.
