In pesticide residue analysis, the most commonly used method for the separation and purification of large amounts of fats and other interfering substances in solvent extracts of dairy products and biological samples is liquid-liquid partition followed by column chromatography. Floridia or partially deactivated alumina is commonly used to purify residual fats and pigments in column chromatography.
