Objective To study the abnormal glucose metabolism in different stages of cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 89 newly diagnosed acute cerebral infarction patients hospitalized in Dengfeng Maternal and Child Health Hospital from June 2010 to December 2011 were enrolled in the study. Blood glucose was measured at 14 and 28 days after admission respectively. Results There were 65 cases of normal blood glucose, 9 cases of diabetes mellitus, 10 cases of impaired glucose tolerance and 6 cases of impaired fasting blood glucose regulation. Admission was diagnosed as diabetes mellitus at 14 and 28 days after admission, and impaired glucose tolerance. Conclusions The elevated blood glucose in patients with acute cerebral infarction may be a reflection of the abnormal glucose metabolism and may also be the manifestation of stress response. In addition, this study also shows that there are more abnormal glucose metabolism in patients with diabetes mellitus without acute cerebral infarction By.
