有不少英语单词,看似意有所指,实则在句中已失却其原来词义,仅仅起加强语气的作用,用于连接词与词、句与句之间的关系。此类词多见于英语口语。现举数例于下:
There are quite a few English words that seem to mean something. In fact, they have lost their original meaning in the sentence. They only serve to strengthen the tone and connect the relationship between words and words, sentences and sentences. Such words are more common in spoken English. A few examples are given below:
