Objective To investigate the infection status and clinical features of WUpyV in children with respiratory tract infection and provide the basis for scientific prevention and treatment of respiratory tract infections. Methods The clinical data of 1632 children with respiratory tract infection who were treated in the pediatrics department of Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University from June 2013 to May 2015 were collected and analyzed for their epidemiological and clinical features. The multiplex PCR was used to analyze the etiology Detection. Results Among the 1 632 hospitalized children with respiratory tract infection, 1 136 were positive for the virus, the positive rate was 69.61%. Among them, 46 cases were WUpyV infection, accounting for 2.82%. Of the 46 patients with WUpyV infection, 22 patients (47.83%) were infected with WUpyV alone and 24 patients (52.18%) with other virus infections. The median age of children with pure WUpyV infection was 27.3 months, of which 8 (36.36%) ≤6 months, 6 (4-6 months) to 4 (18.18%), 6 to 27 years 2 cases (9.10%) and 2 years (9.10%) ≥5 years old. There were 16 males (72.73%) and 6 females (27.27%). Infection with WUpyV alone peaked in spring (45.45%). Clinical symptoms of children with pure WUpyV infection were mostly fever, cough and wheeze, and were mainly diagnosed as bronchopneumonia after infection. Conclusions The high incidence of simple infection of WUpyV is spring, most of which are male infants. The clinical features of pure WUpyV infection are mainly fever, cough and wheeze, and most are diagnosed as bronchial pneumonia.
