The combination of antiepileptic drugs or antiepileptic drugs with other drugs can lead to complex interactions, including drug absorption and changes in bioavailability. As well as changes in drug half-life and serum concentrations induced or inhibited by the liver. In most cases, elevated and decreased serum concentrations are a hallmark of drug-drug interactions. The combination of drugs can affect the clearance rate of one or both. It is important to understand the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antiepileptic drugs and the metabolic pathways of all competing drugs. This article summarizes the mechanisms of interaction between antiepileptic drugs and their pharmacokinetic properties.
