全断面岩石掘进机盘形滚刀破岩机理是全断面岩石掘进机研制和应用领域研究的热点和难点。通过对盘形滚刀压痕试验、线性切槽试验和盘形滚刀滚压岩石的圆槽试验发现,盘形滚刀破岩方式不同,岩石剥落状况也不同。以此为研究基础,以盘形滚刀弧刃域与岩石的相互作用为研究对象,以盘形滚刀已有一定切深、逐步到达一定切深和盘形滚刀线性切槽为研究内容,探讨了盘形滚刀与岩石不同作用方式下的盘形滚刀弧形刃域相应点岩石位移和应变的计算理论和计算方法,导出了相应的计算公式,从而为盘形滚刀破岩机理的研究及其物理方程的建立奠定了基础。
