普济桥位于苏州虎丘山东麓,跨山塘河,是一座中孔较为高大、两边孔相对称的三孔石拱桥。据记载,普济桥始建于清康熙四十九年(公元1710年),因桥畔普济堂捐资兴建而得名。后乾隆、道光时,数度重修,才保存至今,是姑苏较为珍贵的古桥之一。在普济桥的花岗石楹柱上,现在还留有一幅字迹清晰的对联:东望鸿城水绕山塘连七里;西落虎阜云岩塔影立春秋。这幅对联既描述了桥的地理位置,又吟咏了四周的自然景色。游人拾级登桥,向西眺望,云岩塔
