潘孚先和《大越史记》潘孚先字信臣,号莫轩,河内郊外慈廉县东萼村(又名维村)人,在1396年陈朝最后一期会考考中太学生。1429年黎朝初期的明经会考,又考中。曾任天长府的安府副使,从1448年起,返京任国子监博士,一面在国子监教书,一面照料国史院。1455年,黎仁宗“令潘孚先修《大越史记》,从陈太宗起至明人返国止”(《本纪》卷十一,第九十页)。吴士连在《大越史记全书》中的《序》也写明:“本朝仁宗又命修史官潘孚先续编,自陈太宗以下,
