本品为唇形科植物丹参(Salvia milti一orrhiza)的干燥根及根茎。中医用于活血祛瘀,凉血除烦。动物实验证明,丹参能扩张冠状动脉,增加冠脉血流量。对冠心病、心绞痛及心肌梗塞等心血管系统疾病有效。据调查,本品炮制方法很多,各地的炮制方法也不统一,计有生丹参、焦丹参、酒丹参、醋丹参、炒丹参、猪血拌丹参等。1977年版中国药典(一部)规定其炮制方法为:“除去杂质及残茎,洗净,润透,切片,干燥”。
