Objective: To investigate the pathogenesis of radiation pleuritis and the preventive and therapeutic effects of fluvastatin. Methods: 98 female SD rats were divided into normal control group (n = 10), irradiation group (n = 38) and fluvastatin control group (n = 50). The control group was treated with fluvastatin 20 mg / kg every day for one week before irradiation until the mice were killed. The other groups were given the same amount of saline. The pure irradiation group and the fluvastatin control group were treated with a linear accelerator with a total chest irradiation dose of 20 Gy. After irradiation 5, 15, 30, 60d by 40mg / kg thiopental sodium intraperitoneal injection, after thoracotomy anesthesia, pleural effusion with pleural effusion routine and biochemical examination, bacterial culture, and take lung tissue with formaldehyde solution Fixed, for biopsy. Data using χ2 test. Results: In the 88 rats, 31 to 60 days after irradiation, radioactive pleuritis occurred in 27 cases, with a total incidence of 30.7%. Among them, the incidence of simple irradiation group was 42.1% (16/38), the incidence of fluvastatin control group was 22% (11/5 0), and the χ2 value was 4.10. Compared with the simple irradiation group, the fluvastatin control group had a significant reduction in the number of radiation pleuritis, and the pathological changes were also lighter (P <0.05). Conclusions: Radiation pleurisy can occur in the early stage of radiation-induced lung injury. Fluvastatin can effectively prevent and treat the occurrence and development of radiation pleuritis
