Objective: To investigate the long-term efficacy of levamisole in the treatment of chronic pharyngitis. Methods: A total of 128 patients with chronic pharyngitis who returned from our hospital from March 2001 to December 2009 were collected and randomly divided into control group and experimental group. Patients in control group were treated with routine alcohol and tobacco abstinence, Nasopharyngeal or tonsil inflammation, based on the local containing lysozyme tablets. The treatment group on the basis of conventional etiology, with levamisole meal Dayton clothing, body weight 25mg per kilogram per day with clothes for 2 days, the pain can be more than 2 days after the service plus 1 day, 3 to 6 months for a course of treatment. Follow-up one year later, all cases were followed up for 1 to 4 years. Results: In the control group, 13 cases (19%) were effective and 34 cases (49%) were ineffective. The total effective rate was 67% in 23 cases (33%). There was no recurrence in 5 cases (7%) in 1 year, no recurrence in 2 years (1.5%) and no recurrence in 0 (0%) in 3 years. The experimental group: 37 cases (64%) effective in 17 cases (29%) ineffective in 4 cases (7%) the total effective rate (93%). Among them, there were no recurrence in 30 cases (52%) in one year, no recurrence in 23 cases (40%) in 2 years, no recurrence in 10 years (17%) in 3 years and no recurrence in 9 years (16%). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion: Levamisole can alleviate the symptoms of chronic pharyngitis and reduce the number of attacks, which is of great value to the long-term treatment of chronic pharyngitis.
