International Symposium on the Impact of War on Modern China was held on October 15-19, 2013 at the University of Queensland, Australia. The symposium aims to explore the impact of the war on modern China. It brings together scholars from Australia, Canada, Japan, the Mainland and Hong Kong. The meeting was convened by Professor Chi Kong Lai, Department of History, University of Queensland, and James, University of Western Ontario, Canada Professor Flath believes that the impact of the war does not exist only in the course of the war, this effect often extends to the post-war and in all fields. Thus, taking the war and its derivatives as an entry point will help deepen our understanding of the various patterns and status quo formed in modern China and even in contemporary China.
