In January 1991, the U.S.-led multinational force Chen Bing Bay deployed more advanced combat aircraft, tanks and artillery and other new-technology weapons in the area around Iraq, especially the combat aircraft that made the multinational force rely heavily on it. However, until this aerial strike was “staged,” two ground-to-air surveillance radar stations deployed by Iraq in the Iranian border area have posed a deadly threat to the operations of the multinational force. To ensure the covertness and suddenness of the Operation Desert Storm that began on the early morning of 17 April, the U.S. military decided to destroy both of these radar stations first.
