On May 26, 2015, Brazil and Mexico signed an investment protection agreement. The agreement is known as the Partnership and Investment Facilitation Agreement (CFLA), which aims to “promote and promote” investment between the two countries. Brazil and Mexico are the two largest economies in Latin America. Neither country signed the International Convention on Investment Dispute Settlement, and in the past they all believed in protectionism. However, while Mexico supported the Washington consensus, abolished protectionism and opened its doors to the world, Brazil still pursued protectionist policies and seldom signed investment agreements. At present, the two countries hold entirely different views on international investment agreements. Mexico has 28 bilateral investment agreements
