由于建筑工地上砂、石堆的外形很象棱台,在计算砂、石堆体积时,许多人以为采用棱台体积的计算公式,即V=h/3×(S_1+S+(S_1S)~(1/2)计算即可,其实不对。砂、石堆并不是棱台。棱台各个侧棱的延长线必交于一点,计算棱台的体积公式也是因此而得到的。而工地的砂、石堆都是随便堆放的,其侧棱的延长线很难准确地交于一点,只能保证上、下底面是平行的,这样的形体叫拟柱体。图1所示的是拟柱体。图2所示的是棱台。
