柏林国立图书馆始建于1661年,它的前身是普鲁士国立图书馆及王家图书馆,现在则是德国的国家级图书馆,由普鲁士文化遗产基金会进行管理。由于该馆始建时,正好是耶稣会士来华,东学西渐,欧洲皇室产生“中国热”的年代,加上柏林本身就是东方学研究重镇,因此该图书馆从一开始就与东方学图书尤其是中国图书结下了不解之缘。在该馆网站上列出了十种特藏,第二项是42170种东方手稿,第八项是20馀万种罕见刻本(如明早期刻本),
