Beijing and Tokyo in early March are both early spring and early winter, but Tokyo seems slightly warmer than Beijing. At the invitation of Japan Foundation for International Exchange, in the spring of 2017, I had the privilege of embarking on a rather long but meaningful journey to Japanese kabuki. China and Japan are neighbors of the water belt and the traditional cultures of the two countries have their own characteristics and deep roots. Chinese classical drama is one of the author’s research directions, but for Japanese traditional drama - kabuki, but never so close contact. Therefore, this trip to Kabuki does have a special meaning to a scholar studying Chinese drama, and is an excellent reward.
