温室盆栽试验结果表明,接种全蚀菌的处理,在小麦出苗后3天,全蚀菌即可侵入根部,引发病症。全蚀菌对扬麦158和冀麦5418的侵入高峰是一致的,均在小麦出苗后5~10天,但两者在病害扩展速度上存在明显差异。全蚀菌的侵入部位大多集中在根毛区,少数从根茎侵入。菌丝由根毛区侵入时可产生类似附着胞的结构,其分支产生菌丝。有的菌丝直接从根毛侵入,菌丝在根毛内轴向生长,并在根组织内繁殖蔓延,致根组织细胞瓦解,细胞内容物外溢,在根部导管内形成大量的褐色堵塞物,使水分和营养运行受阻,小麦地上部表现为黄化、矮化和分蘖减少
