The choice of SAW radar reconnaissance transformation parameters is not so much governed by the limitations imposed by surface acoustic wave devices as dictated by the limitations of the digital output stage and the nature of the input signal. This article discusses the choice of parameters that are necessary to design a radar reconnaissance compression receiver that operates in a pulsed signal environment and is a compromise between frequency and temporal resolution. This article describes the details of a compression receiver that uses a block-based design and a SAW subsystem with a resolution of 4 MHz at 1 gigahertz of input bandwidth. Due to the use of specially designed digital output circuit as the data processor interface circuit, thus solving the high output data speed problems.
