Objective To investigate the relationship between the perceived stress, coping style and emotional status of patients with peptic ulcer and the mediating effect of coping style. Methods 438 cases of outpatients with digestive ulcer in Department of Gastroenterology of General Hospital of Xinjiang Military Region were randomly divided into study group and 423 healthy people as control group by random sampling method. Using the questionnaire of perceived stress, simple coping style and Positive Negative Emotional Scale Investigate. Mediation uses AMOS 21.0 software for analysis. Results The scores of positive emotion in the study group (30.62 ± 7.81) were significantly lower than those in the control group (31.52 ± 6.98), and those in the negative emotion group (20.29 ± 6.88) were significantly higher than those in the control group (19.98 ± 6.96) (P <0.05 and P <0.01). Overloading, positive coping and negative coping had significant predictive effects on positive emotions (P <0.05 or 0.01), negative coping, predictive feeling, control feeling, positive coping, and age (P <0.05 or 0.01). The partial mediation effects of predictive and control responses on negative emotions were 0.047 6 and -0.091 8, accounting for 19.2% and 38.0% of the total respectively, . The partial mediation effect of overloading sensitivities by positive coping with positive emotions was 0.058, accounting for 16.2% of the total effects. Coping style had a complete mediating effect between predictive feeling, controlling feeling and positive emotions. Conclusions Patients with peptic ulcer have higher negative emotions, perceived stress, and coping styles are closely related to positive negative emotions. Coping style has an intermediary role between perceived stress and positive negative emotions.
