The research group of Yokohama City University’s medical department associate professor Shinichi Kojima and Prof. Fujishima Koto of the University of Tokyo jointly confirmed that the titanium oxide particles were injected into the cells and then irradiated with light. Immediately thereafter, they killed the cancer cells. This suggests that cancer photochemotherapy may be used clinically. The research so far in this group has demonstrated that in order to obtain the effect of killing cells with titanium oxide particles, it is necessary to treat the particles with cancer.
