孔子学院自2004年创办以来,一直伴随着西方媒体的偏见、疑虑和质疑,孔子学院的国际舆论环境成为制约孔子学院发展的重要因素。本文以EBSCO外文新闻资源数据库(newspaper source)为检索平台选取与孔子学院有关的363篇英文新闻报道进行内容分析,从关注度、态度差异和具体评价三个维度探讨西方媒体对孔子学院形成积极认知与消极认知的根源所在。研究发现:西方国家的地方性媒体对孔子学院更多地持有积极态度,主要集中于惠及地方社区和居民的相关课程、活动、资源、服务等因素;国家层面的媒体更多持有消极和中立态度。与此同时,无论是地方媒体或国家媒体,国际社会对孔子学院的负面认知主要集中于政治因素,包括孔子学院与中国政府的关系及其浓厚的政治色彩。
Since the establishment of Confucius Institute in 2004, along with the prejudices, doubts and doubts of Western media, the international public opinion environment of Confucius Institute has become an important factor restricting the development of Confucius Institute. In this paper, 363 English news articles related to Confucius Institutes are selected for the content search based on the newspaper source of EBSCO (newspaper source). The article discusses the positive recognition of the formation of Confucius Institute from the three dimensions of attention, attitude difference and specific evaluation. The root of knowledge and negative cognition lies. The study finds that local media in western countries hold more positive attitudes towards Confucius Institutes, mainly focusing on relevant curricula, activities, resources and services that benefit local communities and residents. Media at the national level are more likely to hold negative and Neutral attitude. At the same time, the negative perceptions of Confucius Institutes, both in local media and national media, have mainly focused on political factors, including the relationship between Confucius Institutes and the Chinese government and their strong political overtones.
