Currently, the World Health Organization (WHO) is coordinating the global response to the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), an unknown cause of atypical pneumonia. A total of 2960 suspected and probable SARS patients (119 deaths) have been reported in 19 countries (as of 12 April 2003) since the first SARS patient was reported in Guangdong Province, China, in November 2002. Reported to the WHO, of which 1425 cases have been recovered. WHO Global Outbreak Warning and Response Network (GOARN) site group has been to Vietnam and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to help
