[American Journal of Nuclear Science, 1978, Vol. 39, p. 133] To obtain as much energy as possible from uranium fuel for pressurized water reactors, Babcock and Wilcox (B&W) Several plans were actively implemented. The focus of these plans is to improve the design and operation methods to get more energy from the unit uranium. In addition to the recognized deeper fuel burn, in the near future, the utilization of uranium can also be improved by the following methods: (1) axial regeneration of pro- duced uranium; (2) use of structural materials with small absorption cross-sections.
