下一代计算机网络将会有一个很宽的动态速度范围,从G比特的光纤网到低速的广域无线网络。同时,网络的硬件体系结构正在从信元中继向可变长度的包交换发展。网络传输协议必须要有足够的灵活性以及良好的性能才能适应和跨越所有的硬件交换设备。IP包头压缩技术能为我们提供所需要的足够的灵活性。
The next generation of computer networks will have a wide dynamic range of speeds, from G-bit optical networks to low-speed wide area wireless networks. At the same time, the hardware architecture of the network is evolving from cell relay to variable length packet switching. The network transport protocol must have sufficient flexibility and good performance to accommodate and span all hardware switching devices. IP header compression technology gives us the flexibility we need.
