如果到2005年,上海再不建成15米水深的深水港,将受到东北亚新增深水泊位的严峻挑战,上海港将有约95万标准箱需到釜山、神户等港中转至欧美地区,仅此将增加产品品种运输费27亿元,大大降低了我国的国际竞争力,即使长江三角洲和长江流域提供充沛货源,吞吐量大幅度上升,也始终摆脱不了支线港、喂给港的命运。建设具有15米以上水深的深水航道和泊位,迅速提高集装箱吞吐能力已迫在眉睫。
