Lung is affected by cadmium in the air target organ. Animal experiments show that cadmium chloride can cause lung injury similar to human emphysema. Alveolar surface lining with surfactant, can reduce the alveolar air-liquid interface surface tension, maintain normal breathing. There is little research on the effect of cadmium on the phospholipids on alveolar surface. The authors investigated the effect of cadmium on the content and composition of alveolar surface phospholipids by tracheal instillation of cadmium chloride into rats.
