我国的民族音乐教学,从历史上来看,各朝代都有过官办的教学机构,而民间流传的教学方式大多是师徒相授,或家中亲友互相传习。这二者都各有它的使用目的:官办的音乐教学机构大半是为了官府仪礼上的需要,而民间流传的则大半是自娱,或也有风俗上的礼节应用,在封建时代也为宣扬封建迷信服务,也有为革命宣传的。清朝以前帝制时代的官办民族音乐教育,为了祭祀及官府的仪礼服务,到了辛亥革命以后已衰微,虽然在军阀统治时代也摘过“祭孔”等仪礼,但也只作为“尾声”
