The story of a Korean family immigrating to the United States from the American-American writer Petty King’s novel, “Taxi,” embodies the embarrassing situation that a new generation of Korean Americans face. The main feature of this work is the protagonist’s perception of space and identity. The work tells the story of the protagonist’s personal journey to self-identity as she witnesses the departure of her mother and the search for “reliable” taxis. Combining space theory and identity theory to interpret the reliable “taxi” of the American-Korean writers works can better explore the relationship between space and identity.
