水稻是我省主要粮食作物,占粮食耕地面积80%以上,稻谷产量占粮食思产的96%。在人民口粮、工业和饲料用粮中占有举足轻重的位置,是粮食中的最大优势。作为水稻优良品种在水稻生产中,对提高单产、改进品质、抗御病虫灾害等方面,无论过去、现在以至今后都起着重大的作用。建国以来,水稻育种经历了整理农家品种、矮秆化育种和籼型杂交水稻的配组成功三个阶段,促进了我省粮食的迅速增长。六十年代矮秆良种的培育与引进推广至1979年播面亩产339斤,比1949年亩增143斤;七十年代培育推广汕
