Objective To investigate the electrophysiological characteristics of diabetic peripheral neuropathy and its diagnostic value. Methods 52 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 50 normal controls EMG statistical analysis. Results In the observation group, 41 cases (78.85%) were diagnosed as clinical or subclinical peripheral neuropathy. The median nerve, ulnar nerve, posterior tibial nerve, common peroneal nerve, sural nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and amplitude (AMP) of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the normal control group. The nerve conduction velocity and the course of diabetes and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA_1c) level was negatively correlated, the observation group with median nerve carpal tunnel compression was significantly higher than the general population. Conclusion Neuroelectrophysiology can reflect the degree of peripheral nerve damage in diabetic patients to some extent.
