Tianji n Institute of Pharmaceu tical Research, Tianjin 300193, China)rn AIM:To study the pharmacokinetic profiles of marine sulfated polysaccha ride-D-polymannuronate sulfate(DPS) in Wistar rats to provide safe dosing regimens for clinical trial. METHODS: The bioassay of act ivated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) was applied to measure c oncentrations of DPS in the blood. RESULTS: The relation of rat pla sma APTT time increase with DPS concentration within the range of 0.05, 50 μg* ml-1 is linear, r=0.994. The elimination half-life time of DP S was 5.52 h by intrav enous injection and 5.05 h by oral administration respectively, while area under curve following intravenous treatment was 562 μg*h*L-1 . CONCLUSION: The pharamacokinetic profiles for DPS could be ev aluated by APTT bioassay.rn Key words: D-polymannuronate sulfate; pharmacokinetics
