“比赛未能按时进行,由于天气不好”之类的因果复句时见于卷头报端。这里,“由于”一词用法失当。“由于”是一个因果连词。在句子内部,它和“因为”、“所以”、“因此”、“因而”等所表示的组合关系都是因果关系。但是,它们在用法和表意功能上却不尽相同。在表示因果关系的句子中,如果用“由于”,则必须把表结果的分句放在前面,而不能放在后面。开篇例句的正确表述方式应是:“由于天气不好,比赛未能按时进行。”倘若非把表示结果的分句置于前面,表示
