With a long history, Chinese calligraphy has been widely practiced throughout China to the present day. Although Chinese calligraphy uses Chinese characters as a tool to express thoughts and feelings, people can appreciate its beauty, but don’t have to know Chinese. It is not only considered as an abstract art but also is viewed as the most typical representative of the calligraphy in East Asian. It is also regarded as an efficient way of keeping oneself fit and healthy, for the practice is relaxing and self-entertaining. As Chinese culture spread to Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Singapore, calligraphy becomes a unique feature of Oriental art.

The Chinese suit is the traditional Chinese clothes that originated at the end of the Qing Dynasty. Rather than the clothes people in the Tang Dynasty wore, it is only considered to be acceptable for foreigners, as the words“China” and “Tang” sounded the same meaning in most foreign countries. It is made in different colors, most commonly red, gold, black and green. A common design is the use of Chinese characters such as Fu and Shou to spread good luck and wishes. In a word, the Chinese suit not only fully reflects the characteristics of traditional clothes but also exactly borrows the style of the modern clothes.

Originating from more than three thousand years ago, chopsticks are highly praised as a symbol of ancient oriental civilization. Named zhu in ancient Chinese, Chopsticks seem to be used easily, but possess various functions. They were taken as objects that would bring good luck by ordinary people in ancient China. For instance, chopsticks are often used by people at weddings to indicate a blessing for the couple to have a baby soon. Unlike using a knife and fork or one’s own hands, a pair of chopsticks also implies the meaning of “Harmony is what matters”.

Praised as“Oriental Opera”, Beijing Opera is regarded as one of the cultural treasures of China. Originating from many kinds of ancient local operas, it was extremely popular in the Qing Dynasty court. At the end of the 19th Century, it became the greatest kind of opera in China. It tell stories and creat characters through stylized acting. In recent years, Beijing opera has attempted numerous reforms in response to entertaining audience.
5. 介绍舞狮
Lion dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture and other Asian countries, in which performers imitate a lion’s movements in a lion costume. It is usually performed during the Chinese New Year and other Chinese traditional, cultural and religious festivals. There are two main forms of the Chinese lion dance, the Northern Lion and the Southern Lion. Different colors are used to indicate the age with the lion with white fur considered to be the oldest of the lions, while the black lion regarded as the youngest lion. The colors may also represent the character of the lion with the golden lion representing liveliness, the red lion courage, and the green lion friendship.
