There’s more to this decorative hospital 1）fa？ade in Mexico City than meets the eye. This wall is constructed with innovative technology that actually helps clean the air of pollutants. Experts claim that the building can neutralize the pollution from up to a thousand vehicles. The structure also helps cool the hospital， lowering its air-conditioning needs.
Josue Hoil Basto （Architect， ICA）： （via translator） The fa？ade produces shadows toward the inside of the building， helping to keep it fresh and cool. The way the amount of air-conditioning needed to cool it is kept at its lowest possible level， helping save electric energy.
The modular pieces contain 2）titanium dioxide， which transforms contaminants into water and carbon dioxide. The project is part of a $20 billion investment in Mexico’s health infrastructure. The 20 million residents of Mexico City were hoping such projects can help lower the pollution that drives many to wear face masks.
