赵稀方、严绍璗、张博三位先生对汉学主义理论提出了质疑和批评,为我们探讨汉学主义理论的深意提供了契机。提出汉学主义的理论着眼点并不完全是促进汉学研究和国学研究,甚至不仅仅是为了促进国内的人文社科研究,而是旨在认清近代以来中国社会以精神殖民为基础的文化无意识以及学界以智性殖民为核心的学术无意识,克服把西方学术的认识论和方法论奉为普世真理的倾向,最终目的是鼓励恰当地看待西方他者的智慧和局限,客观地评估本土文化和学术的价值与不足,促进中国学术思想的解放,焕发中国学术的创造力和原创性,成为葛兆光先生呼唤的“涵盖了中国、亚洲和西方的顶级世界理论”的助产士。
