鹿人工授精与家畜人工授精一样，主要作用是使优秀种鹿得到充分利用，本交配种1只公鹿只能与15～20只母鹿交配，试情配种也只能多配20-30只，人工授精则可以与几百只、几千只母鹿交配，使优良基因得到迅速扩散，能最迅速地对低产鹿加以改造，是提高茸鹿品质与生产能力的最佳途径和最好的方法。
