According to the U.S. government’s trade statistics, the import of dry edible mushroom products in 1986 was 399 tons, of which 376 tons were imported from Japan, and then decreased year by year. The import of dried edible mushrooms has risen sharply since 1991, reaching 544 tons in 1993. However, the amount of dry mushrooms imported from Japan drastically dropped to 40 tons, while imports from South Korea reached 147 tons and imports from China nearly 300 tons. Imports from other countries also increased. This shows that the import of mushrooms in the United States is diversified.
